At the Edge of Dream and Reality

A master of traditional semiotics of symbols. Always at the edge of dream and reality, but still within strict visual discipline. Sigurður Þórir is a painter of strong colors, giving us a feeling hardly observed in nature.

Sigurður Þórir Sigurðsson was born in Reykjavík the 31. of March 1948. He studied at the Icelandic Art- and handicraft school during the turbulent years of 1968-1970. Later he began to study at the Copenhagen Art Academy, under the supervision of professor Dan Sterup-Hansen.

Sigurður Þórir has spent years teaching art to students, both in high-schools and in the Reykjavík Art School.

Sigurður Þórir has been active in the art-community. He has been in the board of the Association of Icelandic Artists and other art related societies.
